Welcome to Ready, Set, Hunt! Your Guide to Getting Started in Hunting

Welcome to Ready, Set, Hunt! – Let’s Begin This Adventure Together

Welcome to the very first blog post of Ready, Set, Hunt!—and what better way to kick things off than by sharing why we’re here and what we hope to accomplish with this community of hunters. Whether you’re just starting your journey or you’ve been hunting for years, this space is for you.

How We Got Started: A Shared Passion for Hunting

We’re Peter Cassada and Chris Rausch, and we’ve both spent countless hours in the field—learning, hunting, failing, succeeding, and growing. But one thing we’ve always shared is the belief that hunting is about more than just the chase. It’s about connection—connection to nature, to our heritage, and to each other. And that’s why we started Ready, Set, Hunt!

Over the years, we’ve crossed paths with many new hunters who felt overwhelmed—some unsure where to begin, others eager to dive in but not knowing where to start. We've also connected with seasoned hunters who are always looking for fresh tips, new techniques, and inspiring stories to fuel their passion. Whether you’re picking up your first rifle or bow, or you've been in the field for decades, this is a place for everyone—because no matter your experience level, there’s always something new to learn and explore in the world of hunting.

We’re here to create a space where you can feel comfortable asking questions, share your experiences, and join in on the conversations that help us all grow as hunters.

  • A Community of Like-Minded Hunters: At the end of the day, Ready, Set, Hunt! is about connection. We want to hear from you, share your stories, and build a community where we all feel supported on our journeys.

Why Now? Why Hunting?

You might be wondering why we decided to start our podcast, blog, and this website about hunting. The truth is, hunting has always been deeply woven into who we are—and who we’re becoming. Over the years, we’ve come to realize that hunting is about so much more than just the thrill of the chase. It’s about the lessons we learn through the adventure, the skills we refine in the field, and the connections we build—not only with fellow hunters and the world around us but with a deeper understanding of ourselves.

Hunting is a journey, one that’s always evolving. It’s a skill you never fully “master,” because there’s always something new to discover, adapt to, and overcome. And that’s what keeps us coming back for more. We’re excited to bring you along on this journey—sharing the experiences, the challenges, and the growth that hunting offers, every step of the way.
